Chapter 6
“Munch! Munch! Munch!” Was the sound that Lefty heard at the dinner table, while she attempted to eat the fish in front of her. Lefty frowned, she was hoping that there would be more of a variety of foods in front of her… (Well, I guess that if we are going to be stuck here for a while, cooked fish may be the difference between survival and starvation…) Lefty thought to herself as she eyed the fish… After a quick decision, Lefty slowly cut off a piece of the fish and chewed it slowly…
Cat quickly scarfed down her fish and then looked at Lefty, who seemed to be playing with her fish rather than eating it… “What’s the matter? Not hungry?” Cat looked at Lefty while licking her lips. Lefty only mumbled something that Cat couldn’t quite hear, and then silently continued to eat her fish… Cat couldn’t quite understand exactly why Lefty was eating her fish so slowly, until she looked at Princess, Stripes, and Shila, who seemed to be having a hard time as well.
Shila and Stripes were also silently eating the fish with a frown on their face, but Princess had simply pushed the fish to her side. Cat was about to ask why no one was eating their fish, when a sudden cough caught Cat’s attention. Sitting across the table from Cat was Space, who was looking at Cat strange. A light bulb suddenly entered Cat’s mind, (Oh, I guess they aren’t exactly big fans of fish in their diet!) Cat suddenly realized, as she sat back down in her chair quietly…
“Ding! Ding! Ding!” Toby clanged on his cup, grabbing the attention of the ‘fish fan club’… “Ahem* I would like to say something…” Toby smiled, as he stood up, “Tomorrow will be the last day you all stay here, and I’m sure that you are all aware that I will be teaching this young Prophet here about her skills for most of the day. So make sure that the rest of ya don’t slack off either! However, I do want to let you in on a little secret…” Toby grinned, before taking a sip of something to drink from his cup, “*ah…* Ya’ll ain’t the first ones to come here…” Toby grinned…
At this both Lefty and Stripes got up at the same time “You mean that there was another group like us?!” They both exclaimed at the same, before laughing at each other for once again blurting out things simultaneously. Toby grinned from ear to ear, “That’s right; there have been others, as well as more Prophets…” Toby winked… It was then that Space jumped up, “So wait, I thought that there was only one group that the Prophet had chosen, and only one group who are suppose restore the light to Estyren… Are you saying that’s not true?” Space growled, feeling as though he had been betrayed.
Toby nodded, “Yes there was more, but they never did make it to stone hill... They either got corrupted by darkness, or they were ambushed….” The dwarf frowned, “However, that stone cross your Prophet, is still the same one… Ya see, every time something’ happened to the latest group that traveled towards stone hill, the cross would teleport to safety before the shadows could grab it… I’m sorry that I’m having’ to spring the news on ya so early, but I figured that you all needed to be warned ahead of time since you young ones find it harder to deal with grief…” Toby frowned…
The gang stared in horror at Toby, mouths wide open, save Princess who simply shrugged, “Eh, better them than us…” Princess replied, unaware of the seriousness behind it. A chair suddenly scooted beside Princess, “I’m going to bed…” Lefty mumbled, setting aside her fish as she slowly walked towards the bedroom’s doorway, head down the entire time…
The gang just stared at Lefty as she walked onwards into the bedroom before the gang followed suit. Space was the only one who stayed for a moment longer as her looked at Toby, “Well I guess I can thank you personally for giving us some hope…” Space snorted as he picked up his plate. Toby watched Space get up before he rubbed his beard, “Sorry to be the bearer of bad news… The truth sure does sting, but I have little doubt that your group will be the one to reach stone hill this time…” Toby replied using no emotion in his tone of voice…
Space then immediately threw down the plates he was holding, causing them to crash on the floor, “You know something? I don’t think that you personally care a bit if we do or not…” Space mumbled, clutching his fists before bending over and picking up the pieces of his broken plate.
Toby put his arms on his sides and huffed, “You’re absolutely right, I don’t… However, I do see good pure souls when I meet one, and you lot fit the bill as described in the ancient scrolls… After the first few Prophets came by with their groups, I lost hope… The picture that described the heroes in the texts fit none of their personality’s… So I just gave up hope. Until you guys showed up late here at my house.” Toby smiled, “I’ll admit that I really thought it was just another joke, but once I opened those scrolls back up again the pieces fit… So after putting two and two together, with the help of your Prophet, Lefty, whose powers came earlier and stronger than any others I have met. I will say that I believe you can do your duty’s right! I myself don’t care what happens in this world, but I do care about the truth that lies in good souls… So I know that you and I don’t exactly match each other too well, but we do have the same goals in mind… So try and keep it that way, so I don’t have to mark another gone on my list.” The dwarf grunted…
Space stared in shock at Toby, “I- I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to cause this feud…” Space looked down, “I just don’t want to see my friends getting upset or hurt…” Space frowned. Toby walked towards Space and extended his hand over Space’s shoulder… Space flinched in surprise, before looking at Toby who was smiling. “Although you can’t always protect your friends from harm, but you can make sure that you keep yourself from harm so you can help them…” Toby replied before he guided Space towards the bedrooms…
Space sighed as he looked at Toby one last time, “I sure hope that you’re right… Because if you’re not, well all I can say is that you’d better grow eyes in the back of our head.” Space grinned before climbing into bed… Toby frowned, “I’ll keep that in mind thanks…” Toby mumbled as he closed the door to the bedrooms…
Short chapter, but what can ya do.. :P Idk when the next one will be up, but I'll try and keep it sooner than this one! (Maybe next weekend? :3) So until then I'm off... Peace! XD
